I have been involved in various crafts for most of my life, One of my earliest memories is sitting at a table with my grandmother making rugs, probably aged about 4 or 5. I have always had a passion for wood, loving the tactile qualities as well as the visual and it was inevitable that I would end up turning at some point as, even at school, where we were allowed to use the lathes, I was fascinated by the speed at which something of beauty could be made .

Wood is one of those materials that is never the same twice and when making tools and equipment for crafters who love beautiful objects I hope to make things that people enjoy using. The first tool I was asked to make was a crochet hook for a lady with arthritis who couldn't indulge in her love of crocheting using the metal hooks so I made her a hook in wood with a bulge that was easy for her to holsd. From that moment I was captivated when I saw the joy on her face as she was able to once again do what she loved. I am fortunate in having some experts around me who will bluntly tell me if something I make isn't good enough or is the wrong wood. and so anything I put in the shop has been vetted by a picky crafter LOL. No two pieces will be the same either so you can be sure that the tool you get will be unique to you in some way or other be it the wood, the shape and decorations on it or maybe just the overall appearance. Wood never repeats itself so I am not able to do exact copies anyway.

The two things I love making more than any other are, items that are both practical and, I hope, beautiful and incorporate natural parts of the wood such as bark, natural holes and fissures, and tools that are a joy to use and lovely to look at as well. OK so not everyone will agree with my definition of beauty but hopefully you will find something in one of my shops that appeals to you. This site is purely for the crafting tools and equipment, to see my other work please use the 'Non craft items' link in the list on the left of the pages.

The majority of the wood I use is sourced locally from hedgerows, gardens, tree surgeons, recycled wood, in other words, any source that is sustainable. I do occasionally get some exotic woods which I acquire as offcuts or left over's from other wood workers. I only buy exotic woods myself from reputable sources if and when specifically asked for something in it and some woods which are now classed as endangered I get occasionally from old un-repairable furniture which I break down and reuse. It still has to be bought and worked so don't expect a discount if it is recycled wood !.

I hope you enjoy browsing my site and of course maybe seeing something that you would like to buy,
