This is one of those pieces that you will either love or hate. It is really for the lovers of the natural, unfettered rustic look. It is made from a very old piece of oak burr that has, over the years developed many natural splits and fissures and measures 320mm diameter standing 70mm high overall. In the tradition of kintsugi, repairing by enhancing not hiding defects, I have filled the splits in the inside of the bowl with ground glass and brass. This has given a splayed branching look. The underside I have simply cleaned off the splits leaving them open. They may move a little but not enough to detract from either the beauty or the usefulness of the piece. Like most burrs it polishes up to an almost glass like finish with a basic wax finish. Overall one for the enthusiast .
