This is one of those pieces that you will either love or hate. It is really for the lovers of the natural, unfettered rustic look. It is made from a very old piece of oak burr that has, over the years developed many natural splits and fissures. In the tradition of kintsugi, repairing by enhancing not hiding defects, I have filled the splits in the inside of the bowl with ground glass and brass. This has given a splayed branching look. The underside I have simply cleaned off the splits leaving them open. They may move a little but not enough to detract from either the beauty or the usefulness of the piece. Like most burrs it polishes up to an almost glass like finish with a basic wax finish. Overall one for the enthusiast .
