Sadly elm doesn't get very big in the UK due to dutch elm disease but we can still get smaller pieces of this gorgeous wood. This beautiful platter is a wonderful example. The grain is amazing and despite the open look it polishes to an amazing natural shine. A few small natural inclusions have been filled and sealed with copper. The platter has been turned to a fairly fine thickness to enhance the delicate look, something that is possible with this tough wood. It is 8 1/2" (215mm) diameter and as seen here is perfect for fruit or pretty much anything you wish to display in it. It has been finished with a hard wax (carnauba) polish to enabble easy maintenance.
